The first screen you'd normally see in NSS 2010 is a screen to set up your resolution. However, it does not work properly and displays a black screen instead. Simply hit enter to start the game and it will take you to a new window.
From here, you can quit the game, then go to ~/Documents/New Star Soccer 2010/Settings and manually edit settings.ini to set your own resolution.
