Xserver needs to be configured to 16 bit Color Depth
The installation off the gog.com using a "Windows XP bottle" worked fine using Crossover Games. I also tested this game using "Crossover Standard" and it mentioned that the Xserver needs to be configured to 16 Bit color depth.
I Mandriva 2010.2 this is done using the Mandriva Control Centre -> Hardware -> Configure Graphics Server. Note you need to logout from your X-Session and login again in order for this to take effect.
