Mini vMac would be little more than a toy with some educational and entertainment value if all you could do was work within the confines of its environment. Check out the Extras at http://minivmac.sourceforge.net/extras/index.html for ways to do things that require interaction with the host OS - for example, if you want to Import, Export, or Print.
At one time, I used ClarisWorks a lot. Using Mini vMac, I could open and edit an old ClarisWorks file, export it to my host OS (OS X), then send it to someone else. If I had a reallyold wordprocessing document that can't be opened by today's versions of MS Word or OpenOffice, it might be possible to use an emulator like Mini vMac and old application software that was able to open that file and convert it to a somewhat newer format.
