UPDATE: This hack is no longer needed for version >= 4.2. Just install as usual :)
A dirty hack to get around the error message of "Error 1322: part of directory path ' ' exceed the max length that system can accept" during the installation is to edit one of the installation file. Do the following at your OWN risk as always...
(1)copy all the installation files out from your OfficeXP CDROM to a directory (we cannot edit files in CDROM, right?). Remember to mount with the "unhide" option to get the hidden files also.
(2)Edit the file PROPLUS.MSI with your favourite hex editior (e.g. ghex), and search for the pattern "7c b7 73 ac f9 b7 7c", and change it to "7c b7 73 ac f9 b7 2c". The offset of my OfficeXP PROPLUS.MSI is 163AA6 (Mike told me his is 164525), so maybe the offset of your version is different.
(3)Save the file, and the installation should be okey using the "modified" installation files.
(4)Enjoy! and thanks Mike McCormack for this dirty hack :D
