Microsoft Project 2010 Tips

.mpp file associations on Linux

On most Linux machines, you'll find that .mpp files are detected as audio/video files by your file system, and MS Project doesn't show up as "open with" choice. This is because "MusePack" also looks for .mpp file type, and the MS Project .desktop file doesn't override this association by default.

To fix this:

add "audio/x-musepack" as a MimeType inside

~/.local/share/applications/cxassoc-cxoffice-fa5f3c16-002f-4763-b8cf-05 497715684a:application_vnd.ms-project.desktop

and then add

audio/x-musepack=cxassoc-cxoffice-fa5f3c16-002f-4763-b8cf-05497715684a: application_vnd.ms-project.desktop

to ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list
