I was able to get further on the installer by doing the following on Mac 9.2.0:
Start with Office 2007 and install all packages in new bottle.
Go back and install Runtime Suport Component: MSXML 6.0 (Might work better if you download your own).
Go back and select installer from Office 2010, you will be able to customize installation, selecting the minimal settings worked for Outlook, but it crashes after launch.
