This tool doesn't do what you think it should
Adding this compatibility pack puts FileFormatConverters.exe into the bottle with Office. FileFormatConverters.exe simply converts .pptx & .xlsx documents to .ppt and .xls so that older version of Office can open those files. It does notadd the ability to open these files directly in older versions of Powerpoint or Excel. And it does not add the ability for these older programs to save into newer formats like .pptx and .xlsx.
We couldn't believe this ourselves so we tested under native Windows XP and found that the behavior you see in Crossover is the correct behavior. So this compatibility pack works fine in Crossover, it just doesn't do what you think it should do. Thank Microsoft for that one.
