If you find your spreadsheet corrupted and will not load, you may be able to recover the spreadsheet by loading it into either OpenOffice Calc or Gnumeric
and saving it with a new name as a Excel 97 spreadsheet. I have found that Gnumeric is possibly better than Calc at cleaning up a Excel 97 spreadsheet.
