MS9 will install into a new, clean CX5 bottle provided that you install the individual pre requisite components first. The install sequence I have used successfully is as follows:
Internet Explorer 6 (the Crossover installer version is fine)
MDAC_TYP.EXE
Jet DB
.Net Framework 1.1 (dotnetfx.exe)
the MS9 setup
I tend to do this via the command line:
/opt/cxoffice/bin/wine --bottle [bottlename] /path/to/install.exe
