Download the following file from WineHQ ;

 settings.sol

Copy this file to the following location ;

Mac

~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/Steam/drive_c/users/crossover/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/

linux

~/.cxgames/Steam/drive_c/users/crossover/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/


After this file is copied into place, restart Machinarium - game should now run fine.

Note: Although it will not run, you must start the game at least once to create the above directory path. Use Quit/Force quit on the bottle to dismiss the app when doing so as the game will be unresponsive at this time.
