With the release of CrossOver Games 10.1, almost all of the issues with the installation of Lord of the Rings Online have been resolved. Simply click on the "Install via CrossTie" button on the main page and let CrossOver Games do its work.
Please note that the CrossTie will default to using the North American client.
To get the EU version, change the "Application Language" from English to "English (United Kingdom", "French" or "German".
To complete the process, after the insall has finished, REMOVE the checkmark next to "Launch Lord of the Rings Online", and let the installer exit.
Note: The download process is managed by the "Pando Media Booster" (PMB) a small blue rectangular screen. Once this begins, it can take many hours to complete -- the game files are larger than 10 GB in size!
If you need to pause the download and resume it later, that can be easily done. The PMB is a "torrent" type downloader. It can be paused (via the button on the interface} or terminated and will resume where it left off.
To resume the complete installation process, if for example you have shutdown your Mac:
1- From your browser, click on the Orange "Install via CrossTie" button on the "Details" page of the LOTRO section of this website.
2- On the third line of the "CrossOver Software Installer" make certain that the bottle you created in your first install attempt is selected - or type the bottle name into the box at the right. (The installer will be trying to create a new bottle and want to start over again.)
3- Click "Install" and the download process should begin where it left off.
