Some people report that loading the app and savegames takes a great deal of time. This is directly related to the resolution you play at; the higher the resolution, the longer any loading action will take. The workaround is simple: Just before quitting the game, open the settings/options menu (disk icon) and lower your resolution to something low (e.g. 800x600) and quit. Loading the menu screen should now be really fast and you can quit the entire app from here.
When you now start the game again the resolution will be this low setting and startup and loading of a (save)game will also be fast. Once loaded, jack up the resolution to wherever you want. Rince, repeat.
