If you are having problems with invisible models, try turning off V-sync. This should clear it up. Note that you not only need to turn off V-sync in the game options' menu, but also in your driver settings. For instance, for proprietary nVidia users, the setting may be found in nvidia-settings under OpenGL Settings.
