The easiest way to install IrfanView is via CrossTie.
The instructions below will download and install both IrfanView and IrfanView Plugins:
click: Install Irfanview 4 via CrossTie
(if "CrossOver Software Installer" does not start automatically, find and open "IrfanView 4.tie")
click: Install
click" Yes (to simulate computer restart)
click: Next
click: Next
click: Select all
click: Next
uncheck: Include Google Chrome
click: Next
click: Next
click: Yes
uncheck: Start Irfanview
click: Done
click: Next (to install IrfanView Plugins; but note that Plugindownload is very slow)
click: OK
click: Close
To view pdf files using IrfanView, you need to install Ghostscript as follows:
click: Install Ghostscript via CrossTie
(if "CrossOver Software Installer" does not start automatically, find and open "Ghostscript.tie")
Click: Select a bottle into which to install
Click: IrfanView_4
Click: Install
Click: Next
Click: I Agree
Click: Install
Click: Finish
Click: Close
To set IrfanView as the default program to open a document with:
First pick a document that you want to open, right-click, and click on "Get Info"
Click on the bar under the "Open with:" section
Click on Other...
Click on "Enable: All Applications"
Then select: YourHomeFolder, Applications, CrossOver, i_view??
Click: Add
Click: "Change All..."
Click: Continue
