Remember there are two versions of the iPIX viewer. The standard plugin and the Java plugin. The Java version has nothing to do with CrossOver. The Java version works with the lastest JRE from both Sun and Blackdown. The Blackdown JRE seems to work better with KDE 3.2 but check the KIO box in the Java setup otherwise a lot of sites don't work properly.
