If you try to run Heroes after that, it will quit with a ddraw error. It appears that the "unusual" resolution is to be blamed for this. Try the following
Launch 'Crossover'
Highlight the bottle
Select "Bottles|Properties"
Under Control Panel, select "WIne Configuration" (double click)
Under Graphics, choose "Emulate a virtual desktop" and leave it at 800x600.
Run Heroes 3 now. It will work in a Window.
