The original Half-Life CD release had disc-based DRM incorporated into the game - at the time of this writing, this is unsupported in crossover/wine. However, an official Half-Life Full v1.1.1.0 Update patch was released that removes the disc based DRM and enhances some aspects of the game itself.
To apply the official update;
1. Install the game into a new bottle using the win2000 bottle profile.
2. Use your preferred search-engine and search for the string Half-Life Full v1.1.1.0 Update
3. Download the file -- the patch is released as an exe file, however your download may be a .zip or .rar file -- you will need to first unpack the archive to get the .exe file. Copy the 'hl1110.exe' file to the following location (linux);
~/.cxgames/[bottle_name]/drive_c/ (where [bottle_name] is the name of the bottle you installed in step 1.)
4. Start cxsetup/cxbottlemanager => highlight the halflife bottle => Configure => Control Panel
5. Click 'Run' => Browse => navigate to the hl1110.exe copied into the bottle above => Open => Run
6. After the update has finished, exit cxsetup/cxbottlemanager -- game will now work without CD check
