The easiest way to install HL2 is to install Steam in Crossover. Then launch Steam, login, and you can Add a Game Manually. Enter your CD key and HL2 will be available to download in Steam from that point on.
You can install from disc by copying the contents of each disc into a folder on your machine, and then choose the Half-Life entry in Crossover's Install Software list and select the setup.exe in the folder.
