This is a issue that seems to occur by a unclean exit of the application leaving stored window position data in the Gw.dat file that causes the main game window when in windowed mode to be moved off screen and destroyed leaving the game running other wise normally (can hear music running.). It is documented to occur across many versions of wine.
Currently there are only two confirmed working fixes/workarounds for this.
The first is to Delete the Gw.dat file located in Linux: ~/.cxgames/<Bottle Name>/drive_C/Program\ Files/Guild\ Wars/Gw.dat Mac: /Library/Application\ Support/Crossover\ Games/Bottles/<Bottle Name>/drive_c/Program\ Files/Guild\ Wars/Gw.dat
Then launch the game per normal from your links and the client will recreate the Gw.dat file downloading the required resources and the game will resume normal operation.
You can launch the game after confirming that the issue is resolved with the --image option to download all the required files so that you do not have to load game resources as you play. It would be advisable to make a backup copy of this Gw.dat file until this issue is more clearly understood and resolved.
The second is not a fix, but a work around. When the Game updater/Patcher screen is visible and has input focus checking for updates you may press Alt+Enter to switch to full screen mode. This will launch the main game window in full screen mode but will still not function in a window mode.
