Works great with Crossover 23.5, a MacBook Air M2 (8 gig RAM, 512 SSD), and MacOS Sanomo.
Installation and setup:
Be sure to use the Crossover ‘crosstie’ — meaning click +install, search, and select Grand Theft Auto V, so that Crossover will install any dependencies into the bottle. If you already installed the game, you can still do this because Steam won’t attempt to install the game twice, but the dependencies will get installed.
When initially installed, the Rockstar Launcher may act strange. You may need to restart it a few times, but also be very patient as it loads.
Options:
DXVK seems to work much faster than D3Dmetal — at least for me (Macbook Air M2 with 8 gig RAM and 512 gig SSD.) However, Steam’s in-game FPS counter only seemed to work with D3DMetal, but everything was sluggish.
Crossover High Resolution Mode looks very nice, but the launcher screen might get weird. Hit Command Return (alt-enter) to put it into windowed mode, then set your resolution (full screen, etc.) and apply before playing.
Troubleshooting tips:
If you need help because everything looks super bright or washed out. Exit the game. Run the launcher again. In the graphics settings (scroll down), set ‘Post FX’ to ‘Very High,’ apply, and start the game.
If you find the mouse sluggish or choppy, see a double mouse pointer, or experience other mouse oddities, go to settings - keyboard/mouse switch from raw to directinput or Windows.
