Google Chrome 1.x Tips

Install Google Chrome over a Chrossover Chromium installation

  • First download and install Crossover Chromium as described in the above tip.
  • After the installation ends run the installed Chromium.
  • Go to http://www.google.com/chrome and download ChromeSetup.exe
  • Open a terminal and run cxchromium/bin/cxsetup.
  • Click on Install software button
  • Click on Show all service packs and dependences and choose Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0.
  • Install it.
  • Now install ChromeSetup.exe in the chromium bottle
  • After the install is complete Crossover won't detect that the installation already finalized, so tell it that the installation finalized.
  • Exit the CrossOver Chromium Setup application
  • Edit the script ~/.cxchromium/chromium/desktopdata/cxmenu/StartMenu.C^5E3A^5Fwindows^5Fprofiles^5Fcrossover^5FStart^2BMenu/Programs/Google+Chrome/Google+Chrome.
  • Change as follows (add the underlined part)

    exec "/home/cramirez/cxchromium/bin/wine" --bottle "chromium" --check --wait-children --start "C:/windows/profiles/crossover/Start Menu/Programs/Google Chrome/Google Chrome.lnk" --no-sandbox --in-process-plugins "$@"
