Forsaken World Tips

Running the Game (Not for the Tame)

So the Game actually works pretty well in CrossOver. The problem is that it does not work without huge amount of work.

Lets start with the following:

  1. The Automatic Loader will not work
  2. You will need a Windows Computer to download the game or a Virtual Machine.

Why is this so Hard?

  • Arc Games (Link to Site) or actually the game company Perfect World Entertainment decided to take the product from STEAM which means you can only use their installer (ARC) to play the games.
  • Arc is actually not written well and crashes in CrossOver or Wine when trying to install the games from the client.

How to get around this:

  1. You need a windows computer or a virtual machine to install the ARC Client
  2. Download the Game to that Virtual Machine or a Windows Computer
  3. Move the Game to a USB / Drive  or over the network to your CrossOver System . and put the directory called "Forsaken World_en" (or might be different ending for different languages) in to Program Files in your C drive of Cross Over.
  4. Create a brand new bottle and name it any way you like (I tested with WinXP, WIn7, and Win10 - all 32 bit)
  5. Once the New Bottle is created install the following in to the Bottle By Right Clicking on the bottle and choosing install software in to ....
  6. You will need to repeat the process as you can install one at a time.
    • Crossover HTML Engine
    • Microsoft Rich Edit 2.0
    • Microsoft Rich Edit 4.1
  7. When the game is copied click the "Run Command"
  8. Hit Browse
  9. Go to " Program Files => Forsaken World_en => update" and select pem.exe (Select Open)
  10. DO NOT HIT RUN!
  11. Go to the end of the command string and after the brackets (you know these things " ") end put a space and type exactly this  -ark:1     (Thats space -ark:1)
  12. Now "Save Command as Launcher"
  13. Wait for it to show up in the bottle.
  14. Start the Game now from the Icon or by hitting [RUN] (from now on you can use the Icon)

As I was saying not for the faint of heart but it does work.
