File extensions(.fla) aren't automatically added to the end of saved files. If you save a file without an extension and close it, the next time you attempt to open it the File->Open dialog will not display it because it doesn't have an .fla extension.
Workaround: In the File->Save dialog, make sure that the end of your file has '.fla' at the end of it.
