If music doesn't play in the game, TRY THIS!!! (Steam Version)
So if the music doesn't play in the Steam Version of Final Fantasy VIII, try the following.
1) Select the Steam Bottle
2) Select "Wine Configuration"
3) In the Wine Configuration Tab, Select libraries
4) The Issue with the game is that the library for DirectMusic is not installed, you can install it by typing in "dmusic" in the box labeled "New Override for Library" then click the "Add" button on the right of the box.
5) Now click the "Apply" Button in the lower right corner of the Wine Configuration menu, followed by clicking the "OK) Button to the left.
6) Now that you have exited Wine Configuration, open the game in Steam, and the music should play.
