Final Fantasy VII Tips

Getting running on Ubuntu 12.04

  1. Installed from the offical Install disk into a fresh Windows Vista bottle - Maximum Install
  2. Repleaced FF7.exe and FF7Config.exe with the versions from the Offical 1.02 Patch
  3. Placed all files from openGL v0.7.11b patch in Final Fantasy VII install folder, including replacing FF7Config.exe
  4. Ran FF7Config.exe using "Run a Windows Command" - set graphics to use Custom Graphics driver, configured sound to use correct interfaces (used Timidity for MIDI output)
  5. Tweaked ff7_opengl.cfg settings as required (Set resolution, etc.)
  6. Plugged Nintendo Gamecube controller in via USB adapter - menus work with no problem through this
  7. Placed FF7 Disc 1 in the drive, launched game.

The only problem I've found is that I can only get music or SFX working, not both at once.
