Fidelity Active Trader Pro Tips

Running the application if no shortcut appears

If you are like me, you may have installed Active Trader Pro and realized that CrossOver does not display one of those handy shortcuts that allow you to start the app. (Such a shortcut is pictured below.)

For reference, I run a 64-bit Artix Linux system and clicked through all menus with no changes to install Active Trader Pro. If you did or use something else, this issue may not occur.
Do not despair! It is possible to run Active Trader Pro. Follow these steps:
  1. Click "Run Command" while in the menu for the Active Trader Pro bottle

  2. Click "Browse..."

  3. Go to the folder "users" then "crossover" then "AppData" then "Local" then "Apps" then "2.0". For brevity, this entire sequence will not be illustrated, but you should end up with a screen that looks something like the following.

  4. There should be two folders. One will be a random sequence of letters and numbers. Click that one. (If you have multiple folders with incomprehensible names, try the following steps with all of them.)

  5. There should be a folder with a random name. Click that one. (Once again, if there are multiple folders with random names, try all of them.)

  6. You should now see a large number of folders. One of them will begin with "fide...app_". Click that one.

  7. Select "ActiveTraderPro.exe" and click "Open" (or equivalent) to end the file selection process.

  8. Click "Create Launcher."

  9. Modify these settings as you wish. They define how a shortcut to Active Trader Pro will be created. Once you're done, select "Create."

You now have a shortcut for Active Trader Pro!
Note that this method of shortcut creation disables a few nice-to-haves like auto-update. So, if you want new Active Trader Pro features, I would suggest reinstalling the bottle. The way to create a shortcut that makes these features work is far more convoluted and finnicky, so I think this method was more appropriate.
