This is Post-install guide. Fonts must be installed before
FAR installation.
When
FAR is just installed, it can't be run in
CrossOver.
FAR is console application, and
WINE does not allocate console by default. So, we've got to provide a console to
FAR.
In order to do this we'll create apropriate
Programs menu entry instead of the one created by installer.
(Mac) :
Choose
Programs >
Run Command...
Click
Browse... and find
Far.exe. It is usually located in
Program Files/
Far
Now prepend "
wineconsole --backend=user " without quotes to the
Command: line.
Click Run to check if it's working.
Creating icon :
The
Run Command dialog should be still opened.
Click
Create Icon.
CrossOver should create so called "Helper Application" for
FAR. In my environment it was named
wineconsole and had
CrossOver icon.
First, rename it to "
FAR Manager".
Second, we'd like to replace its icon with something better.
Some people maid cool shiny
icon for
FAR Manager.
This icon was converted to the
Macintosh icns format.
Get it
here
Now right-click our "
FAR Manager" and browse
Package Contents.
Proceed to
Contents/
Resources.
Replace
CrossOverHelper.icns with the downloaded one.
Now close this window. We left
FAR Manager Helper Application in another window.
Its icon may be still
CrossOver one. Hold
Option and drag "
FAR Manager" to the
"
Far Manager" folder. Confirm replacing. Or delete manually the old Helper Application
left by installer.
Then
Configure >
Refresh Programs Menu and you're done.
