Disable gore or use a mod to prevent combat freezing due to the dismemberment bug
All the details are in my guide here including a bunch of recommended bug fixes mods and settings. But TL;DR, one of the game freezing "crash" is caused by the dismemberment bug. Disable Gore in the game settings, or use the No Dismemberment Only Blood mod to disable dismemberment in the game.
