Fallout 2 game steam with Fallout 2 restoration project
Create new windows 11 detault bottle
Install game trough steam - try to start so it would install its stuff and fail.
Install microsoft c++ 6.0 (into bottle)
Install direct x for modern games (into bottle)
install Fallout restoration project (https://github.com/BGforgeNet/Fallout2_Restoration_Project?tab=readme-ov-file)
rename C:.......steamapps\common\Fallout 2 to: C:.......steamapps\common\fallout 2
Use windows installer of Fallout restoration project - just copy it to bottle C:\ and run it - pick your desired lang and install to steam folder.
DO NOT USE Hi_res_config.exe - it will mess your restoration install, instead manualy update your desired resolution:
Add to draw.ini and to f2_res.ini your desired resolution of game - should be same as your display resolution you are using
GraphicsWidth=2048
GraphicsHeight=1330
Create launcher for fallout 2 add run option to Environment variables: WINEDLLOVERRIDES='ddraw.dll=n,b' wine fallout2.exe
Double check that you are running correct version - it is shown in right bottom corner.
Alternatively it is possible to run Fallout 2 by using https://github.com/alexbatalov/fallout1-ce - you just need to install fallout 2 using steam and then add launcher to same folder
Only not properly working are videos - they tend to lag.
