Install Enterprise Architect by selecting its entry in Crossover's Install Software list.
In Crossover go to the Configure menu, Manage Bottles, select the EA bottle, Control Panel tab, Wine Config.
Click the Libraries tab.
Search for or add oleaut32 & oledb32. Set those libraries to Native,Builtin.
Start Enterprise Architect.
Select "Connect to Server" -> Connection Wizard Select "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server"
Enter the Name of the Server "SERVERNAME\SQLEXPRESS" (You might have to use windows to get the correct name)
Select "User a specific user name and password" and fill in fields.
Check "Allow saving of password"
Select the Database from the list. (If the list isn't populated then double check the server name + username/password). Click OK.
Just accept the defaults EA provides (like Lazy Load). Create a Log file.
If EA prompts that the database isn't valid. Try re-registering the oledb32.dll from the "Program Files\Common\System\Ole DB" directory. Note: All problems experienced when connecting to a DBMS come from the oleaut32 and oledb32 dll's
