EnergyXT2 Tips

JackWASIO

NOTE: This only applies for OS X - Although a similar approach is doable in Linux.

EnergyXT2 has been equipped with a DirectSound audio driver, but even with a buffer size of 512 samples, severe stuttering will occur even at low CPU utilization. Don't worry though - there is a workaround.

A friendly soul has made some modifications to the WINEASIO driver and released JackWASIO[1] (yeah, you'll need JACK OS X[2] too). I've been using it for several months now and it appears to be quite stable. Installation is pretty easy and after regsvr32:ing it, you should now have a ASIO capable CrossOver.

Something quite amusing is that my ASIO enabled CrossOver can handle higher polyphony than I could do in my old setup with Boot Camp - which also required an external ASIO-equipped sound card for reasonable latency.
