To fix this issue, you can copy RICHED20.DLL from the Windows/System directory of a previous install of MS Office. Alternatively, installing Office installs the control also. Also note that there are copies of the DLL floating around on the Internet, but I don't know what the the legal status of using them is.
This has essentially been fixed in Crossover Office 5.0, at least with Fedora 3.
