Many people have complained about not being able to install Endnote under CrossOver Office or that it only occasionally responds. Well, I believe I have found a solution. In order to make EndNote work under CrossOver Office, follow these steps:
1. Go to the \\"Programs Files\\" directory under fake_windows and locate the \\"EndNote\\" directory.
2. Remove the \\"Connections\\" subdirectory completely from your system.
3. Open EndNote either by itself or from the Microsoft Word.
4. EndNote will open up but with a small pop-up window complaining that it is unable to find the \\"Connections\\" subdirectory. Click \\"Cancel\\" or close this window. The EndNote will then give you the option to open up your *.enl library file. Click on \\"browse\\" and choose the path where this is located.
Without the \\"Connections\\" subdirectory, EndNote works all the time. The only annoying feature is that one has to be reminded of this missing link everytime EndNote is invoked.
The above trick works for Endnote 6 and I believe it will probably work for EndNote 7 and 8 as well although I have not tested these newer versions.
Good luck,
