Ensure you have the latest version of CrossoverMac installed on your Mac.
Installation
Install on a Windows machine first.
Create a new bottle called Research 2008 (you can choose another name, of course).
Insert the Ellen White CD. Install from within Crossover Mac.
The install usually hangs - quit or force quit if it hangs
Run this .exe file to update the registry: /Users/*name*/Library/Application support/CrossOver/Bottles/Research08/drive_c/Estate/Research 2008/Folio/Autoreg.exe
Try to run Folio Views, and add any files from a donor PC that it complains are missing.
Copy over the WinSxS directory to include dependent dlls from donor PC.
Running Views (This is from a friend, and I don't know how to do it properly):
create a shell script with the command: /Volumes/Apps/OSes/Darwine/Wine.bundle/Contents/bin/wine "E:\Estate\Folio\views.exe" "E:\Estate\Folio\Books\egw-comp.sdw"
create an OS X application (using Platypus [freeware] for example) that can be opened from Finder called "EGW Folio Views.app".
copy the EGW icon to that OS X application.
drag the app to the dock
Limitations:
The standard install doesn't work yet. It hangs. But it sets up directories so a manual install can be completed as described above.
The toolbar on views doesn't populate properly - the standard views icons are there, but the custom icons that this CD adds are missing. You have to click on the search icon at the bottom left of the window to search.
The graphic on the title page doesn't show.
Alternatives:
The White Estate has produced a new install CD that includes the wine foundation. This installs nicely, although there is a font issue with OSX and Office for Mac 2011, for which they have provided a work-around.
