Problem summary: After clicking Print nothing happens!
This problem is not specific to EditPad Pro, but you may experience this printing problem running EditPad Pro under CrossOver as with other applications. The fix outlined below assumes printing under CUPS is otherwise working well on your system!
If you started EditPad Pro from the console, when trying to print, you would see something like this: (after selecting File menu - Print (testing with two page text file)
fixme:winspool:WINSPOOL_EnumPrinters We don't handle PRINTER_ENUM_CONNECTIONS fixme:winspool:WINSPOOL_EnumPrinters We don't handle PRINTER_ENUM_CONNECTIONS
Or, when attempting to print a single page (such as page 1 of a 2 page set), on clicking 'Print' in the printing dialog box the following error shows in the console. The error repeats once for each individual page you try to print within each print job:
fixme:psdrv:PSDRV_EndPage Already ended a page?
Both these errors occur because Wine - the infrastructure CrossOver is based on - has problems with the legacy 'lpr' printing protocol.
Fix: Remove the 'lpr' package installed on your system, in favour of the package 'cupsys-bsd' ('Common UNIX Printing System™ - BSD commands'). After installing the replacement package, restart the printing system if it is already running, using a command like: /etc/init.d/cupsys restart. You will then be able to print from EditPad Pro!
Note: Binary package names and paths to files can vary between systems; the names/paths above match those used by Debian.
