Editor Tips

Works on Linux, a bit trickier to install

When installing Editor on Linux (tried on Fedora 10 with both GNOME and KDE desktop environments), the "background" editor window will take over the entire screen, and prevent the license agreement and subsequent installation windows from moving to the front.

To work around this issue and install editor:

-first create a new bottle, set to win98 or winXP
-go into winecfg/Graphics, and set "emulate virtual desktop" at 800 X 600
-proceed to install Editor into this bottle.  The virtual desktop screen will sort out the layering issue, and the proper installation windows will be rendered on top of the background.

It's also not a bad idea to leave these settings on the bottle so that editor will always launch in a set window.  After installation, it seems to work perfectly.

Also - the same problem with not creating the launcher in Crossover's Programs menu (Windows Applications in the Linux OS' Applications menu) still stands.  However, if you instruct Editor to create a desktop shortcut during install this will be successful.  Alternately, you can use "Run a windows command" to browse to the .exe and create a shortcut on your own.
