EchoLink Tips

Firewall Tip

For echolink to operate correctly, you will need a few ports on your systems firewall open, and - depending on your internet connection you will need to forward some ports.

The standard Echolink ports are:

UDP 5198 (in/out)
UDP 5199 (in/out)
TCP 5200 (out)

If you are using a router,  you will also need to forward those ports to your echolink machine or at least setup port triggering on your router to allow for proper pass through of the data.  If these ports are not available, echolink will not be able to make a connection which will make the program appear to not function properly.  During setup there is an option to do a firewall test - make sure to do the test and that your software shows PASS - if it shows fail, it will not work correctly.
