i found that opening several of my .eco files that were previously created in win98 would cause ecco to crash. there were no errors or other dialogs - ecco simply disappeared.
i was able to salvage all these files by using the file/database/recover tool. in each case, ecco reported that the file had been corrupted; ecco read in what appears to be all my data and allowed me to save it to another file. ecco is able to open these newer files without issue.
