- using ubuntu 12.04 64bit
- Etax couldnt acces internet, IE 7 crashed
- did this change from CX IE7 page:
"After installing IE 7 using all defaults on a relatively clean Ubuntu
12.04 system, every time I started Internet Explorer it gave me a save
file dialog and then closed. I tried the
RunOnceHasShown/RunOnceComplete tip (using both string & dword keys)
but no luck. After searching support tickets, I found the following
command in ticket 889054 which fixed it for me:
echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
To make this persistent across reboots, you'll need to change /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf to match this line:
kernel.yama.ptrace_scope = 0
"
- rebooted and IE & and E-Tax worked fine, accessed internet etc.
- I did pre-fill, filled out form to get password, and lodged online sucessfully :)
Bugs
- no help browser
- hyperlinks try to open unsuccessfully in help browser
- not possible to enter commas or full stops - is this CX specific or not allowed in E-Tax in general?
