Create a "winxp" bottle and install the following:
- Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 Runtime (this will download and install all previous versions which are needed and some various other needed pieces of software)
- Steam
- Download the game through Steam
After downloading the game, when pressing the "Play" button Steam will try to install some pre-reqs. It will manage to install VC++ 2008 but fail on DirectX. This is not an issue, since installing Steam should have already done that. Use the registry editor to add the following info (thanks to people on winehq):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendyEntertainment\DungeonDefenders]
"InstalledUE3Redist"=dword:00000001
This will skip the pre-req install step and load the game.
The configuration utility is slow to render. I recommend running the game in an emulated desktop (mine is 1280x720). It seems to run fine with my nvidia gtx 260 core 216 card + driver version 295.49 on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit
