Connection Timeouts?
FTP interaction through DreamWeaver seems to be iffy at times; you may sometimes view messages stating that the connection with the server timed out, or that a file couldn't be transferred. These messages will appear, even though there don't appear to be any issues with the system in the FTP log.
If the 'Contribute Compatibility' trick on the Known Issues page doesn't resolve these timeouts, just be persistant. Keep trying to complete your FTP transaction over and over again, it does work eventually. One trick that seems to help out is disconnecting and re-connecting to your server.
Initial Server Connection Timeouts
One annoyance of Dreamweaver seems to be that it will try to scan the remote server for the status of every file you have in your 'local' view. The larger the number of files in your local repository, the higher than chance that Contribute will time out. A workaround is to clear out your local repository before trying to connect to an FTP site.
