DOORS Tips

No Tip Title!

Install Instructions for DOORS 5.2: (this has been tried on cxoffice 2.1.0, 3.0.0 and 3.0.1, I have recently updated cxoffice to 4.0 and then 4.1 without a reinstall and it still runs well).

  1. Run the self installing executable doorsinstall.exe using the cxoffice control center. You click the Install button, select the "Install unsupported software" option and then enter the path to doorsinstall.exe in the "Other *.exe file" field. Answers to most questions will be default values. You will need to set the appropriate DOORS Database server and the server port which is usually the default of 37766
  2. If you have the 11395 patch, you can run the self installing executable DOORS_52_Windows_Patch11395.exe (in the same way as above0 to install a required patch
  3. This may not be necessary, all it seems to do is check if the license is valid and then edit autoexec.bat
    Run the 'license setup' tool after installing doors (you should find this in the "DOORS Suite" folder in the menu, command line is below). You will first need to create an empty Autoexec.bat file in your /support/dotwine/fake_windows directory (C:) if there isn't one there already. Assuming you are configuring an existing floating FLEXlm license you select "Configure an existing license" and then "FLEXlm license" and then "Client computer". Select the license type and then enter the license server details (something like "7192@fred.somewhere.com".
    I haven't tested other types of licences.
  4. (optional, if you have doorsnet on your server as well and want to access the DOORSNet publishing functions) run the self installing executable doorsnetinstall.exe in the same way as above.

After you have installed you will need to modify the menu entry created by the install to set the LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable that is used to run DOORS since the autoexec.bat file that is setup is not actually used in wine and DOORS will not be able to find its license server if LM_LICENSE_FILE is not set.

The menu entry I use is (as one line of course):

 LM_LICENSE_FILE=7192@saturn.mel.ot ~/cxoffice/bin/wine --workdir
     "C:\\Program Files\\Telelogic\\DOORS\\bin" "C:/Program Files/Telelogic/DOORS/bin/DOORS.exe" --
Crossover will also create a script file to run doors in its bin directory, /bin. If you want to run doors from the command line you will need to add a line to set LM_LICENSE_FILE in the script before it runs wine.

The command line used to run the license setup utility is:

"~/cxoffice/bin/wine" --workdir "C:/Program Files/Telelogic/DOORS/flex" --check
    --cx-app "C:/Program Files/Telelogic/DOORS/flex/LicenseSetup.exe"
