The DMAP program apparently "freezes" during the use of the colour options however this is NOT the case. All aspects of the colour palette can be used and applied. The problem arises when the user is exiting the Colour selection window. After selection of the appropriate colour, the OK button is selected and the main window becomes blank and apparently freezes so that no menu selection operates. Inspection of the panel at the bottom of the window reveals, however, that the Map and Symbol Colours window is still open. If that panel icon is now selected, the Map and Symbol Colour window returns to the screen, the final OK can be selected and the selected colours are automatically applied with the program then running as usual.
This "abberation" occurs because closure of the "Colours" window when OK is selected does not automatically produce the "Map and Symbol Colours" window on the screen, even though it is still open and so shown on the panel bar at the bottom of the monitor screen. An single extra "select" with the mouse on the relevant panel icon solves this very minor problem.
Similar "freezes" may be encountered during use of the Digitiser package, but in every case it will be found that a subwindow is still indicated as open on the panel bar. Selection of this icon will restore the subwindow and allow the user to exit correctly. The DMAP program will then be found to be running perfectly again.
