Distributed Tracking and Relay Client V. 0.0.1.4 Tips

Installation

I was able to successfully install the DTRC in a WinXP bottle on the following machine:

Soyo SY-7ISA+ Intel i815 Motherboard
Intel Pentium III 866 MHz Processor
512 MB SDRAM
PNY Verto GeForce FX 5200 AGP 8x 256 MB DDR
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI Sound Card (SB0220)
Samsung CD-RW/DVD Drive Model:  TS-H492A/RSWN
Dual Boot openSUSE Linux 10.3/Windows XP Pro SP3
CodeWeavers CrossOver Games for Linux Version 7.1.2

Installation is a little awkward since the application is provided in a .ZIP file with no installer.  I unzipped the archive into a temporary directory and executed the DTRC.exe file just to have something run during the CrossOver installation process.  While DTRC.exe was running during new software installation, I copied the temporary directory containing the application into the Program Files directory of the new bottle.  I then closed DTRC, and waited for the installation process to terminate normally.  I then selected the option to Run a Windows Command and created a desktop shortcut to the DTRC.exe file in the new application directory within the Program Files directory in the bottle.

DTRC runs correctly with one exception that I have noted.  The spectrum display window does not show any output based on the input.  The dashed vertical bars noting the Mark and Space frequencies are present as is the frequency and offset values, but there is no graph.  The XYScope displays the elliptical representations for Mark and Space, so these must be used to tune the receiver.  Incoming data is transmitted to the UTARC server correctly.  So the client is usable for balloon tracking in Linux.

I also was able to execute the underlying MMTTY program within the bottle, and the graph also does not appear in the spectrum display in this program as well.

Hopefully, someone will provide some test results for the Mac version of CrossOver.
