Game will stutter in the late game due to issues rendering many abilities at once. I have been unable to find a concrete solution, but to mitigate it you should run the game in the lowest graphical settings, with a capped frame rate (I use 60 fps, which is uncompetitive but necessary for my M1X 2021 MBP). Also turn flashing off in game and turn on Do Not Disturb on your MacBook. These last two aren't guaranteed to do anything but every little bit helps. The network usage in my Activity Monitor always spikes during/after a game-crashing lag spike.
Also, there are many options that you can enable in steam to reduce the graphical load that it has on your bottle. Especially disabling steam overlay, and turning off the animated avatars. I also always close pretty much everything else on my computer.
