Darwinia Tips

At least starting with Crossover Mac 10.1 the game can be entered and a dsound crash occurs if you enter the first level. You can either change the sound options within the game or by editing the preferences file.

1) Change sound options within game
Press "Esc" and click sound options. In the dialog disable "Real time sound effects"

2) Edit preferences file

The path to this file is (non steam version):

linux:  ~/.cxgames/[bottle_name]/drive_c/Program Files/darwinia/preferences.txt

Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/Crossover Games/Bottles/[bottle_name]/drive_c/Program Files/darwinia/preferences.txt

and steam version:

linux:  ~/.cxgames/[bottle_name]/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/[steam_username]/darwinia/preferences.txt

Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/Crossover Games/Bottles/[bottle_name]/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/[steam_username]/darwinia/preferences.txt

Note: copy/backup an original of this file somewhere before you begin in case something goes wrong.

Open this file in a plain-text editor, and change only the following line to

SoundDSP = 0

Once this is done, save the file and restart Darwinia again.
