Getting Counter Strike: Source to run on Mac OS XThe following assumes that you have already installed Steam and Counter Strike: Source in Crossover Mac and that you know how to get to the console in CS:S.
Launch Options
To set launch options, right click on the Counter Strike: Source in steam. Click on "launch options". Now add the following to the box provided: "-windowed -gl -w 800 -novid".
This will allow for best functionality.
In-Game Settings : This has to do with graphics settings in-game. You are probably going to want to tweak this based on the hardware specs of your computer but generally you should put shaders and reflections to the lowest possible. The other settings just mess around with and keep testing to see what your computer can handle. Also as a rule of thumb for Source engine games, in the console of CS:S set cl_drawmonitors to 0.
See also the "Getting best graphics performance" section.
Other Issues :
Some users have been complaining that they are unable to connect to online games and if they do, it is laggy.
- First, make sure you have downloaded the game in full. Though the game will launch with only half or so of it downloaded, you want to have the whole thing downloaded or you will probably get "Disconnect: User Timed Out" errors .
- Second, make sure you have set your rates properly. To do this, go to the console and type: "cl_updaterate 100" , "cl_cmdrate 100" , and "cl_interp 0.01" That should fix some portion of laginess you receive.
If anyone requires help with getting CS:S to run on their Mac, post in the forums and i'll try to help you out.
