Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Tips

Fixing graphics glitches and flickering / performance

To fix glitches with the graphics, go to the Options -> Video -> Advanced Video and set the following:

This fixes some of the flickering:
Shadows: No

These help with graphics glitches (like when you look down your scope):
Depth of Field: No
Soften Smoke Edges: No

To fix flickering, you can also try to change the Frequency setting in the Advanced Video Options to match your display and if that doesn't help set 'Sync Every Frame: Yes' just below it.

Note that even with those settings you may still experience flickering screen corruption at times (for example in the "No Russian" mission).

I'm getting relatively good performance on this system and with these settings:

Intel E8400 Core2Duo (3GHz)
4GB RAM (PC1066 DDR2)
2x NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX

Resolution: 1024x768
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Anti-Aliasing: Off
Screen Refresh Rate: 120Hz
Sync Every Frame: No
Shadows: No
Specular Map: Yes
Depth of Field: No
Soften Smoke Edges: No
Ragdoll: Yes
Bullet Impacts: Yes
Texture Quality: Automatic

(Sidenote: The same system runs the game smoothly in 1920x1200 in Vista so there are probably some more optimizations that can be done, both in my Linux setup and also in CXGames.)
