While the game runs very well, the performance can leave something to be desired. The following steps should make it playable (and enjoyable):
First, the largest gain I got was from using the -ONETHREAD command-line parameter (set launch options when using steam). The gain from this is significant.
Second, I set all other settings in game to low or off (which does reduce the quality of the graphics, but it still looks rather good).
I also dropped one resolution down, to make the FPS a bit more consistent.
