AutoCAD 2008 Tips

 First you need to be running CrossOver 8.0 or higher and you need access to a computer running windows in order to register AutoCAD.

-Copy the contents of your AutoCAD CD into a folder in your Desktop.
-Install .Net 2.0 onto a new bottle.
-Install AutoCAD from the folder in the desktop.

Now you should have a fully functional Unregistered version of AutoCAD (Good for 30 days).

In order to register you must first install and register your copy of AutoCAD in a computer running windows. The current version of the wine internet explorer that comes with CrossOver won't display the registration page correctly and installing IE6 will only make matters worse because it will make AutoCAD crash every time you try to register.

Once you have AutoCAD installed and registered on the Windows computer you can transfer the license using the Portable License Utility.

And you are done!

What works:
-As far as I can tell all drawing commands work pretty well and at a good speed.

Whats flaky:
- There are some UI quirks for instance, the floating toolbars don't draw correctly and are kind of hard to move.
- The open dialog can be pretty slow to draw (I think it has something to do with .Net).
- Drawings with big Xrefs or many Xrefs crash the program sometimes.

What doesn't work (Things I found so far):
3D Hardware acceleration.
VBA (Haven't tried LISP).
